Cornerstone Fellowship International Statement of Faith

A] The fundamental teachings of CORNERSTONE FELLOWSHIP INTERNATIONAL are reflected in the following clear statements of faith.

 1. We believe in the plenary – Verbal inspiration of the accepted canon of  scriptures as originally given. The scriptures are infallible, inerrant and   sole and final authority for all matters of faith and conduct, (2 Timothy 3:6, 1 Corinthians 2:13)

 2. We believe in the eternal Godhead who has revealed himself as one God manifesting for redemptive purposes in three persons, Father, Son and Holy    Spirit, distinguishable but indivisible (Mathew 28:19; Deut. 6:4; 2 Corinthians   13:14)

3. We believe in the creation, test and fall of man as recorded in Genesis,  his total Spiritual depravity and inability to attain to Divine righteousness (Romans 5:12-18).

4. We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ the savior of men; conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, very God and very man (Luke 1:26-35).John 1:4-16; Isaiah 7:14).

5. We believe Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose again the third day,and personally appeared to the disciples (1Corinthians 15:1-4)

6. We believe in the bodily ascension of Jesus to Heaven. His exaltation and

personal, and bodily coming again the second time for his Church 1Thessalonians 4:13-18).

7. We believe in the salvation of sinners by grace through repentance and faith in  the perfect and sufficient work of the cross of Calvary by which we obtain remission of sins (Ephesians 2:8-9; Acts 2:38)

8. We believe in the necessity of water baptism by immersion in the name of the eternal Godhead fulfillment of the Lord’s command. (Mathew 28:19,   Acts 2:38, Acts 19:5).

9. We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit as a real experience at or subsequent to salvation with evidence, namely, speaking in other tongues.(Acts 2:1-4, 8:14-17, 10:44-46, Galatians 3:14-15)

10. We believe in the operation of gifts of the spirit as enumerated in 1Corinthians 12-14 as manifested in the early Church.

11. We believe in the spirit filled life, a life of separation from the World and perfect holiness in the fear of God as expressing true Christian faith. (Ephesians 5:8, 2 Corinthians 6:14).

12. We believe in the healing of the body by divine power, or divine healing  in varied aspects as practiced by the Church. (Acts 4:30; Romans 8:11; James 5:14).

13. We believe in the table of the Lord, commonly called, communion or the Lord supper for believers. (1Corinthians 11:28-32).

14. We believe in the reality and personality of the Devil and eternal judgment in  the lake of fire. (Mathew 25:41; Revelations 20:10-15)

16. We believe there is one true universal Church, made up of genuine believers but is composed of local  Churches in given localities. These Churches under the sovereign leadership of Jesus Christ, exercising autonomous government, locally self  administering and self-propagating. Acts 15:22, Mathew 16:18)

17.  We believe that government is ordained of God. We declare our loyalty   to our government and it’s leaders and will assist in every way possible  consistent with  our faith in the scripture as Christian citizens. (Romans13).

B]  MARRIAGE.

We hold marriage as a serious and solemn pledge. A covenant committing two lives to remain together until death  and as such,  should not be performed thoughtlessly and irreverently, but advisedly in the fear of  God and Divine Purpose.

 1. We believe that marriage should be heterosexual Genesis 5:2, Mathew 19:5.

 2. Marriage should be monogamous Mathew 19:6 “no longer two but one”.

 3. Marriage is for life therefore divorce is unacceptable except for matrimonial infidelity. Matthew19:9. “I hate divorce” Mathew 12:16 subject to the laws  of the Country.

4.  Separation being an unofficial divorce is a tragic state of limbo, we believe in  any difficulties, professional and spiritual counseling should be sought to arrive at reconciliation and harmony. What God has joined let no man put asunder Matthew 19:16, 1 Corinthians 7:10-11.

 5. We accept remarriage to members of proven faithfulness since the Apostle  Paul admonishes that it’s better to marry than burn. 1 Corinthians 7:9.

6. We believe in a Holy Wedding / Marriage ceremony witnessed by all sanctioned by parents of both parties  benedicted by spiritual authority.

7. We believe marriage should be held in esteem since it is a symbol of the relationship between Christ and his Church. Ephesians 5:25-32.
